The Early Days

The Crookrise kennel was established in 1933 in West Yorkshire by Walter and Kitty Edmondson, originally as an Irish Setter and Variety Gundog kennel.

Pointers were added in 1942, with the purchase of Cravendale Cara as a foundation bitch.

In her first litter, born in 1944 and sired by Cravendale Crofter, she produced Ch Highflier of Ide, purchased by Mr Joe Braddon at the age of 10 months to become the first post war champion.

In 1949 Crookrise Duncan was born.  His sire, Crookrise Fleet, was a full brother to Ch Highflier of Ide.  Duncan won his first CC in 1954 and went on to win a further CC and two reserve CC's.

All the Pointers at Crookrise go back to Duncan.

Ch Crookrise Duncanson was sired by Duncan and was the first Championship Show Group winner for Crookrise.  He also won an award at a field trial and was an influential sire.
